MEMOCALY
Privacy policy
Memocaly is a 100% local, offline personal notebook. Your data stays on your device. Here is exactly how it works, in plain language, no jargon.
1.No account, no server
No sign-up, no login, no server. The developer operates no backend. Memocaly does not create any user account.
2.Everything stays on your device
Everything you enter (names, nicknames, facts, free notes, anecdotes/timeline, relationships, birthdays, photos, contact links) is stored only locally, in a database encrypted at rest (SQLCipher). The encryption key is derived from your password (Argon2id) and can optionally be unlocked via your device's biometrics (Android Keystore).
3.Nothing is transmitted
The app does not send your notebook data over the network. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party tool that collects your data. For Google Play Data Safety: no data collected, no data shared.
4.The developer has no access
The developer has no access to your data and cannot recover it. If you forget your password and have no backup, the data is permanently unrecoverable: this is by design (local-only, zero-knowledge).
5.Photos
Photos are encrypted at rest. A decrypted copy exists only in a temporary cache while the app is unlocked, and is cleared as soon as the app locks.
6.Phone-contact link (optional, Android)
When you link a person to a phone contact, Android's system picker grants a one-time read of only the single contact you choose; the app stores a reference (lookup URI) and the contact's name in the encrypted database. The app does not request the READ_CONTACTS permission and cannot browse your contacts.
7.Permissions used
And why:
The app does not use the camera or microphone.
8.Backups
You can export an encrypted '.memocaly' backup file and choose where to save or share it. It stays under your control and remains encrypted.
9.Audience / children
General audience. The app is not directed at children, and no data is collected from anyone.
10.Changes to this policy
Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
